THANKS STASH!!
STASH MAGAZINE creative director and editor Stephen Price was in Caracas several years ago. After his conference we share a beer and some thoughts on the status of the world Motion Graphic industry. Since then we share a nice professional relationship and STASH has been nice enough to share and promote some of our work in TOTUMA. Today, even if STASH is not a place for political discussion, Stephen is helping us creating some awareness of whats happening in our country. Venezuela.
A million thanks to you and your team Steve.

To be honest, at certain point of you career, after you have won certain amount of awards they start loosing their appeal. Sure they are fantastic marketing tools to our job, we we have always tried not to let them get in our heads. This being says, we're particular proud of this one. why? Because at last night PROMAX / BDA award ceremony this was the only award for OWN ( The Oprah Winfrey Network, in case you have been living in a cave for the past 5 years) and how won this award? an american company? an european one? nope, we did.
Last but not least we also won an awards with our friends at Discovery ( TLC ) for the Dynamo campaign. Just a magic touch.

We just move our studio, workshop ( we're avoiding calling it "office") to the fancy "Midtown Miami" at walking distance from the "fancy" Design District. We'll be surrounded by Art Basel, pure bred dogs, artist warehouses, yogurt restaurant, Shepard Fairey (Obey) graffitis, silicone boobs, porno productions, wealthy junkies, people with hair colors and matching tattoos that drink "Cristal"Champagne and a giant clay head that begs "Please". WE LOVE IT!!!
PD: we also get a little note on STASH...; )

From this day on, all the pieces that we'll produce in totuma will have a sort of an adaptation of the "George Méliès, feature presentation" idea.
We found very interesting relationship between the beginning of the history of cinema an our current digital revolution. It was in Paris, 1897, that George Méliès for the first time added the logo of his production company "star Film" at the beginning of his films. The reason? commercial. It was necessary to separate his products for the competence and avoid -mostly in America at that time- illegal copy and reproduction. The "feature presentation" -a sort of audiovisual sign- was born, and is still used by all the mayor movie production companies. The interesting analogy with our present times is that, thanks to the digital revolution, today we're all "George Méliès" (ok, maybe not as creative but hopefully you get the idea) We all have the capacity to produce and distribute our audiovisual creations. So, how do we avoid illegal coping and reproduction? how do we make sure people knows we did that? One possible "solution" is that we all add "features presentations" in our stuf and we all treat ourself as big production companies. Maybe this will work out or maybe is just personal -and graphical- masturbation. At the end, does anybody cares?
Our experiment with macros "TOTUMA UNTITLED 01" was selected to be published on Stash magazine #88
